Peter Abesiga (PhD)

Peter Abesiga (PhD) is a senior researcher, author, and management consultant with a career focused on various specialized areas. These include Small and Medium Enterprise Management, Institutional Development, Entrepreneurship Development, Project and Program Management, strategic planning, Performance Management, leadership, governance, Microfinance Operations, project planning, Business analysis, agribusiness management, and program monitoring and Evaluation. With over 10 years of experience in Monitoring and Evaluation, he excels in data gathering and analysis using state-of-the-art technologies and software such as Microsoft Project, SPSS, Ms. Access, and spreadsheets.

 

Peter has actively contributed to numerous national and international projects spanning Agricultural Value Chain Analysis, Product development, Institutional Due Diligence, Impact Assessments, value chain analysis, and Baseline Surveys. His hands-on experience in managing projects has allowed him to present papers at international conferences, enabling interactions and networking with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Joseph is an international development finance professional based in Uganda, with over 31 years of experience in microfinance, banking, fund management, small business development, and monitoring and evaluation. He possesses over a decade of consulting experience with various donors, including SIDA and USAID, across Eastern and Southern Africa. Joseph is also an expert in teaching, adult learning skills, and facilitating workshops and conferences.

Furthermore, Joseph’s expertise extends to the utilization of various microfinance methodologies and the provision of diverse development financial products and services in rural and marginalized areas. He boasts substantial experience in small enterprises, business development, and coaching. His project portfolio includes the implementation of multiple monitoring and evaluation initiatives, such as the mid-term review of GTZ’s Microfinance training courses. Joseph’s work is characterized by a strong focus on gender equality, with a significant portion of his career dedicated to supporting women entrepreneurs through tailored microfinance solutions.

In addition to his consulting work, Joseph currently lectures on financial management, entrepreneurship, microfinance, banking, and Public Finance courses at Kyambogo University. With over a decade of international consulting experience, he has worked in various African countries across the Eastern and Southern African region.

DOREEN ISOKE

Doreen holds a Master of Arts in Economic Policy & Management and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (Marketing). She is a seasoned professional with a unique blend of strong interpersonal skills and experience spanning multiple industry sectors. With over 13 years of professional experience, she has excelled in research, data compilation, concept paper preparation, monitoring and evaluation across diverse areas, including Agriculture, value chains, microfinance, Financial Inclusion, policy analysis, community management, and Resettlement Action Plans, among other socioeconomic aspects.

Her extensive experience has honed her communication skills and her ability to manage research teams through effective team building and organizational proficiency. Doreen is adept at delivering professional services and engaging in business development functions to secure new clients. She possesses a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, SPSS, Outlook, data management, and multitasking.

As a researcher, Doreen has co-authored studies related to Agricultural savings products that have provided valuable insights for the development of financial institution products. She has conducted evaluation studies of farmer Village Saving & Loan Associations (VSLAs) and actively contributed to the creation and delivery of a training module on innovation and product development for SACCOs nationwide, with a specific focus on Agricultural finance.

Doreen has also played a key role in building the capacities of microfinance institutions in strategic planning, product development, information management, and proposal formulation. Currently, she is engaged in supervisory and data management of social studies for Resettlement Action and Planning of Project Affected Persons under the Tilenga project in the Albertine region. Her contributions have significantly influenced policy decisions of client institutions.

Manya Samuel Ssekajja holds a PhD in Business Administration (Entrepreneurship), an MBA, Project Management certification, Postgraduate qualification in Microfinance operations and Environment. Samuel is a development expert with over 20 years of experience in managing integrated programs related to population and development. His expertise includes designing and implementing poverty assessment studies, conducting baseline surveys, impact assessments, and evaluations of integrated development programs. He is well-versed in Qualitative Participatory and Action Research, as well as proficient in report writing and presentation.

Samuel is a senior researcher and capacity development expert who has actively contributed to various programs and initiatives focused on enhancing the capabilities of individuals and organizations. Notably, he recently provided training to over 600 staff members of BRAC Microfinance in credit and default management and offered support to financial institutions participating in the government’s Project for Financial Inclusion in Rural Areas (PROFIRA). He has also presented several papers, including “Uganda’s Experience: Challenges of Governance among Community-Based Financial Institutions,” a paper on market value chains and household income, and another on the role of microfinance, Income-Generating Activities (IGAs), and household income in Zambia.

MARTHA NDORA KYOMUHENDO

Martha has over 10 years of experience in agribusiness management and enterprise development training. She has been actively involved in the planning, design, and implementation of training and technical assistance programs aimed at promoting small and micro-enterprise development.

Martha possesses a unique blend of skills that span the fields of agriculture, small enterprise development, and microfinance services. She has successfully completed short-term management consultancy training programs, which include agri-financing for smallholder farmers, farm project planning and evaluations, customized in-house training for staff, agribusiness planning assignments, training needs and credit methodology assessments, product development, planning workshops for management, and the development of business manuals.

Martha’s extensive experience extends to entrepreneurship and agribusiness planning exercises for farmers and private companies. She has conducted agricultural value chain analysis and mapping, training needs assessments and has facilitated training sessions. Her professional background primarily focuses on Uganda, and she has collaborated with training consultants within the country, including engagements with the Bank of Uganda.

David is an international development expert with a career spanning over 25 years and is currently residing in South Africa. He has worked with numerous international humanitarian organizations, including CARE International, the World Food Program, and is presently associated with the Food and Agriculture Organization, where he has dedicated more than 15 years as a developmental expert. David brings to the table extensive international experience and a wealth of knowledge in agriculture and rural development. In each of the organizations mentioned, David has played a pivotal role in planning and monitoring programs across the various countries he has worked in.

David boasts significant international exposure, having worked in countries such as Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Uganda, Italy, Sierra Leone, and South Africa, among others. His expertise spans various domains, including agriculture and agribusiness development, rural development, small enterprise development, entrepreneurship, program management, impact assessments, rural agriculture development, donor funding and fund management, value chain analysis and development, community assessments, linkages and networking, and project and enterprise management.
